Studying Social Work at UQ will provide you with the knowledge and skills to work with people to address social and community issues.  You will develop a thorough understanding of human development, social policy, research and legal and ethical issues.  Combined with 1,000 hours of work experience throughout your degree, you will be ready to begin your career as a Social Worker.  

You have the opportunity to specialise in a specific area of social work from:

  • Child, youth and family
  • Health and ageing
  • Mental health

As a Social Worker, you will play a key role in reducing personal distress and providing support and direction for individuals, families, groups and communities in a variety of circumstances.
